Dr. Patrick Maddalena is the lead chiropractor at Accelerated Health & Wellness Centre. Dr. Maddalena has experience treating a wide variety of patients, young athletes, professional athletes, motor vehicle accident patients and elderly patients. While earning his Undergraduate Degree from Brock University, Dr. Maddalena studied Kinesiology with a focus on foot biomechanics and gait analysis. With further post graduate training Dr. Maddalena can also create custom orthotics for patients to assist with many foot, ankle, knee and low back complaints. Dr. Maddalena also applies low intensity laser therapy, diversified techniques, activator techniques, drop table techniques and flexion distraction manipulation. Dr. Maddalena treats all chiropractic conditions which include lumbar disc herniations, low back pain, sciatica, cervical spine disc herniations, neck pain, headache and more.

Corinna Brest van Kempen has relieved pain and discomfort for family and friends long before becoming a Massage Therapist. With a passion for health and fitness, she pursued her first dream of becoming a Kinesiologist. Following her honours degree from Brock, she chose a more hands-on career as a Massage Therapist (Canadian Therapeutic College). As a member of the Ontario Massage Therapy Association, she stays current with the news in her field. Along with skiing and rowing with the St. Catharine’s Rowing Club, she is a volunteer with Brock’s Career Mentorship program. Recently, she also volunteered as a Massage Therapist and Steward for the Men’s Alpine Skiing Team at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Whistler. She has also provided treatment for athletes, motor vehicle accident victims and the general public. Her experience with a variety of musculo-skeletal conditions is evident by the strong and loyal client base she has enjoyed building.

Courtney is currently working towards a Doctoral Degree in Physical Therapy at D’Youville College. She graduated with her Honours Bachelor Degree in Kinesiology from Brock University in 2008. Courtney is a Registered Kinesiologist and she is also certified in Low Intensity Laser Therapy. She has gained a variety of experience in the health care field through outpatient clinics in Waterloo, Peterborough and St.Catharines. Her genuine interest in the health and well-being of her patients makes her an exceptionally effective team member. Courtney has been a part of our practice since 2008 and looks forward to bringing new knowledge and ideas to the clinic.

Jana Stewart, M.A. is both a Meditech Canada certified laser technician and a counseling psychotherapist, with a nursing and exercise science background. Receiving professional degrees both at Concordia University in Montreal and Lesley College Graduate School in Cambridge Massachusetts in the counselling psychology field, she spent several years working in the Boston area as a Behaviour Health Specialist with special needs children, Hospice patients as a certified Bereavement Counsellor, and helping transform many behavioural habit-control issues in young people and adults as a Stress-Management Counsellor. She is passionate about the uplifting benefits that clients report after utilizing Low Level Laser Therapy. Jana is now residing in the Niagara area and is delighted to be available for assisting many of our clients in turning from smokers into non-smokers.

Ashley attended Brock University and earned her Bachelor of Kinesiology in 2009. Prior to attending university, Ashley was always interested in athletics and the importance of maintaining a healthy level of physical fitness. As an athlete herself, receiving treatment for her injuries proved to be an integral aspect of continuing to be competitive in her sport (Synchronized Swimming). She is now a certified Kinesiologist through the Ontario Kinesiology Association. Presently at our clinic, Ashley works with patients to develop their strength and flexibility through rehabilitative exercise to overcome their injuries. She also utilizes various therapeutic modalities to assist in achieving optimal health of each patient. Aside from her duties as a Kinesiologist, she also performs office administrative duties such as billing and scheduling.

Mark Georgiev has been working as a physiotherapist for 7 years and is now a physiotherapist at Accelerated Health & Wellness Centre. Mark, who grew up in Fonthill and later attended Notre Dame in Welland has come back to treat patients in his local community. After graduating from Notre Dame, Mark went on to play Lacrosse for the University of Western Ontario, where he studied kinesiology and psychology. He also was a member of the championship Brock men’s lacrosse team in 1999. Mark graduated from D’Youville College in 2003 with his Master’s in Physical Therapy, and has been practicing in the USA and Canada since. After graduation, Mark worked in Tucson, Arizona and later moved back to his roots in 2005. Mark brings a great deal of manual orthopaedic and vestibular skills to the St.Catharines clinic. Mark is a vestibular rehabilitation therapist. He assesses and treats a large volume of dizzy, balance and vertigo issues using the state of the art black out goggle technology. This gives an accurate diagnosis and very successful treatment of common vertigo symptoms. Mark is trained in active release techniques, athletic taping, acupuncture, and work place rehabilitation. Mark treats sports injuries, whiplash disorders, fractures, arthritis, and any spine related pain. Mark really wants to help everyone and prides himself in taking care of those in the community that helped him achieve his dreams. Marks philosophy is that hands on treatment is the best approach when dealing with injuries and makes sure everyone is treated in a fun, friendly environment with great results.
